Computer Skills I

Fall Semester Only

Class Description:

   
Be the Master of your Computer

This course in an introduction to the Windows Operating System. Learn what it is, how to harness its power, its tools, it features so you're the Master. In addition, students will learn how to use a word processor, spread sheet, address books and image manipulation programs in addition to file management, folders, directories and controls. The student will also learn how to set up and use e-mail, the World Wide Web (Internet) and various search engines.

Laptops will be furnished for classroom use, or students can bring their own.

Student must have IBM compatible computer at home; Class will use Office 2010 (Office 2007 at home will work).

Students must provide USB flash compact reader & card (or Jump/Thumb drive) by 4th wk of class.

Total Due:  $195.00 per semester Laptops will be furnished for classroom use, or students can bring their own.  Students must have access for a computer to use at home. See list above for additional student provided supplies. 
Payment Options $195.00 due with Registration per semester - paid in full per semester at the time of registration.

Computer Skills II

Spring Semester Only

OPEN to mid-year entry, if space is available, to students who have met the Pre-Requisite of successful completion of Computer Skills I at any time with Dr. Baumhoefner. Priority will be given to students who took Computer Skills I in Fall, 2011

Class Description:

   
Office XP, Excel, and PowerPoint

The semester will be devoted to an in-depth training in these office tools used by more than 85% of our businesses. Training in these software systems will enable your student to compete and be more successful in all levels of business and work. We will develop a small company through letters, brochures, spreadsheets, and profit and loss accounting program culminating in a PowerPoint Presentation to potential investors for our Expresso Kiosks in Midtown America.

Laptops will be furnished for classroom use, or students can bring their own.

Computer Skills 101 for the Computer Challenged

Computer 101 for the Computer Challenged 

This is the course you've been waiting for!  A computer class on basics for the computer challenged that will help you to be comfortable with and on the computer.  This course is open to adults and teens who want to learn the basics of computer operation at a little slower pace in a class taught from a Global Learner's viewpoint.  

This section will be slower paced than the standard Computer I class and will focus on using and managing the Windows Operating System - XP - as well as setting up and using your e-mail in Outlook, setting up and managing your Address Book in Outlook, as well as setting up and using the most common web based e-mail like Gmail.

We will also help you manage your Internet Browser setting your security and ease of browsing tools. We will spend time on the use and management of Word, Excel and have some fun with PowerPoint.  At the end of the class, you will no longer be part of the Computer Challenged population! 

Laptops will be furnished for classroom use, or students can bring their own.
