Class Description:

   
Drawing is a very important building block that is foundational to all other mediums of art. If you can draw well, you can paint well. Students will study value and tone, composition, segmental and contour drawing. The instructor hopes to instill a deep passion for this medium in each student. Students will be using both soft and hard leads, blending stomps, and a variety of erasers.

Supplies needed for student to purchase: Drawing Pad (12 x 14 is a good size, spiral works best), Drawing Pencils (H-H2-H6-B2-B4-B6 - or medium range tins work well), Artist Kneed Eraser.  Optional: Shading Stumps. 

Total Due:  $195.00 per semester Some art lab supplies are provided by the tutor.  See list above for supplies to be provided by the student.

  • This NEW AP course will be offered for 2011-12 pending final approval of the course syllabus by the AP Board. Pre-approved PSEO students may begin to register for the course immediately
  • AP high school credit will be given by the instructor for completion of the course per specifications set forth by the AP instructor.  College credit will be given by the AP College Board based on completion of the portfolio as assessed by the AP Readers and can be transferred to any college or university that accepts AP credits. 

     AP studio drawing is designed for the student who is seriously considering taking their art to the next level. Students will be submitting a portfolio at the end of the year, which will be evaluated by a panel of experts in their field. The portfolio will include 5 original works of art that  demonstrate the mastery of drawing in concept, composition and execution. Each piece will have with detailed description  and dimensions. You will also submit 12 digital examples that show the understanding of Concentration, and 12 examples of  Breadth, as part of your final portfolio. All students must be invited and approved by the instructor.
