Study Hall Policy

The Academy Study Hall
is intended for students who
a) have time between classes (i.e. student has an Hr 1and Hr 3 class and none during Hr 2) or
b) have siblings or carpool mates who have classes during hours when they do not have classes.  It is meant for students who MUST be at The Academy due to scheduling at The Academy, NOT for fun or convenience.

The Academy Study Hall policies have varied over the years, but after much trial-and-error, the following policy is currently in effect.

1) Need: A Study Hall option is needed to keep the halls quiet during classes out of respect for both the classes in session as well as the normal business of the church office.

2) Staffing: The Academy Study Hall will be monitored by paid staff. The burden of this service must be paid for by those who use the service, not paid for by either The Academy or families who do not use the service.

3) Cost: $80.00/student/class for a full, pre-paid 15 week semester. will be charged for all students in the building who are NOT enrolled in a class. Registration for the semester must be completed for each student and each class period with the semester course registration, check payable to The Academy, and are non-refundable should this service not be used.  (Day passes for one-time, infrequent and needs-based use are available from the monitor in charge for $8.00/student/class. Payment for one-time day passes can be made via check payable with cash (preferred) or to the individual monitor in charge.)

NOTE: All students who are not in class will be charged this fee if:
a) They arrive more than 10 minutes before any classes begin, including Hr 1 or classes they are enrolled in have begun.
b) They are picked up more than 10 minutes after classes end, including Hr 4, or classes they are enrolled in have ended.

4) Location: Study Hall will be in the hall outside The YEAH Academy offices, beginning 2008-09.

5) Time in Study Hall: Study Hall time will be closely monitored and overall quiet will be observed. However, absolute "quiet" for personal study may not be possible and cannot be guaranteed.

6) Sign-In: When students arrive at Study Hall, they must check in with the monitor in charge so that all individuals in the building will be accounted for.

7) Registration: Students must register for Study Hall on the Registration Form as they would for any class at The Academy and payment in full must be received with the semester registration.  If a student does not sign up for Study Hall, it will be assumed that the student is off-campus during that time. Registration for the semester must be completed with the semester course registration and checks made payable to The Academy.
