Course Description:
Students learn basics of improvisation, use
practical skills, play games and perform scenes in a casual,
non-competitive atmosphere. Concepts include spontaneity,
making offers, listening, storytelling, creating who/what/where
out of thin air, staying positive, and making your acting
partner look good. No acting experience is necessary,
however students must be willing to actively participate.
We will end the semester with a showcase-class that will be open
to family and friends.

Haven’t you always wondered how actors can think so fast on their feet? In this class students will gain improvisation skills by participating in theatre games, given situations and obstacles put in front of them. They will learn how to work cooperatively in small and large groups, create expression through movement, develop quick reactions to situations, learn how to create a beginning, middle and end to a scene, discover a through-line in suggested scenes and learn how to focus on character objectives. This is a great next step for young actors. Students must be willing to actively participate. We will end each semester with a showcase-class that will be open to family and friends.
