A survey of chemistry and its applications intended to promote understanding and literacy in the sciences in general and especially in the field of chemistry. Topics studied include the scientific method and its structure; chemical bonding and intermolecular forces; chemical formulas and equations; water, acids, and bases; oxidation-reductions reactions; and chemistry around the house.
This course is intended for the student who is not planning on a science related career or major study in college. In comparison, the High School Apologia Chemistry will cover more materials, but is not available for college credit.
REQUIRED: Internet Access for students. This course is Web-enhanced; therefore, each student will need easy Internet access to complete this course.
The Academy tutorial class time will be
spent doing hands-on laboratory experiments as well as
discussing concepts covered in the videos and texts and
preparing for tests and research papers due for the
course. Mr. Aldrich brings his passion, expertise,
training in the field of chemistry into this course, as well as
additional examples to further explain specific concepts.

this Chemistry tutorial at The Academy so that you are not
double billed for laboratory materials.
CRITICAL: Before registering for
any PSEO courses, but specifically for these tutorials at The
Academy, make sure the student's schedule can accommodate at
least 15 hours PER WEEK to devote to work on this course.
The Academy tutorials will stay on track and it is the
expectation for all students to do the same.

Graduate and Continuing Education: The Center for Distance
Education merged with FOCUS and the Center for Graduate Education and
are now all part of the division of Graduate & Continuing
