This course intends to provide the student with an understanding of the historical events that surround the ancient Israelite people, noting how the nation grew into prosperity before it fell to moral impurity and the impending judgment of God. By the end of the course, students should be able to 1) recreate a general history of the Hebrew nation from the days of Abraham to the return from heathen captivity, 2) identify the roles that major characters played within the Old Testament (OT) record, 3) understand how geographical locations in OT Israel determined political divisions, and 4) understand the need for and method of attaining personal righteousness during the days of the OT.
