Red Cross First Aid & CPR  One Semester Course

This high school course has been updated for 2011-12  Tutor Name: Ms. Amy Baumhoefner   Target Group: 7th - 12th Grades This course is also open to post high school graduates and other adults, space available after student registration.   Class Size Limit: 5 minimum; 10 maximum   Prerequisite: none   Class Type:  One Semester Course Tuesday, 10:00-11:30 am - Fall 2011 (not offered spring semester) Class Description:     This course teaches care for adults, children and infants: rescue breathing, single-and two-rescuer CPR, and use of resuscitation mask, bag-valve-mask (BVM) resuscitator, disposable gloves, and automated external defibrillator (AED).  In addition, you will practice bandaging and splinting and learn a plan of action to recognize and deal with these emergencies: unconsciousness, bleeding; broken bones; head, neck and back injuries; sudden illness, including stroke, diabetic emergencies, seizures, fainting and poisoning.  Each student will have a research paper on a related topic.  Text: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Participant's manual is included.
